Let me just say this: Bush the coolest president in the history of our nation (well, that was a generalized statement!). Wow. What a gutsy move visiting Iraq! Way to go, Bush!

Go Eagles!
So proud of the Carson-Newman Eagles. We won the first-round of DII playoffs. Playing North Alabama this weekend in the quarterfinals. Check out this bracket.

Cold weather fans
Hopped into the Bou yesterday for some java. I don't believe I have ever seen that many folks in that place before! A sense of possessiveness about my coffeeshop immediately raised its head. I used the moment to meet another regular, quipping: "Huh. Cold weather coffee drinkers." He returned my sarcasm with an equally cynically-raised-eyebrow-and-nod. The good news is the moment I saddled up to the counter, Dave (my favorite java-bartender @ the Bou) handed me a free large "Mint Condition" (espresso, mint chocolate, whiped cream, chocolate-bits, lots of fat). Ah, yes... being a regular pays off.
In other news. I watched 2 hours of Rommel documentaries last night on the History Channel. (Geez, I'm sort-of ashamed to admit that.) But, hey, I never get to watch TV, so I figured I could use a history lesson.

New feature...
I'm building a new feature on [ex]changed.life called essential.reads. It's a list of books that I enjoyed reading or that really inspired me, and they may do the same for you, too.

I'm baaaaack!
Read an interesting allegorical story last week. The parable is found in the first part of The Dream Giver, by Bruce Wilkinson (author of Prayer of Jabez). I must admit, I approached the book with much skepticism because I am really not the biggest fan of Jabez. But, I gave Dream Giver a shot... and actually enjoyed it. I can't comment on the second part of the book because I didn't read it (it had to do with unpacking the parable, which, quite frankly, speaks for itself). Got a big dream? A hidden desire? Burning for something? Check the book out--at least, the first part.

Light bloggin' this weekend...
Got a lot going on this weekend. Expect light blogging with very little accumulation (nothing to cancel school over). Crosspointe is gearing up for the conclusion of our 40 Days of Purpose spiritual growth campaign. I've got a video to edit and some writing to do. Anyway, I figure 3 posts in one day is enough.
In other news, someone found my site yesterday with the following Google search: "Adam Feldman Take Me Out." I'm not sure if I should be flattered, or if I should start watching my back.

sniffles
Got my flu shot today. Sore arm, and achy body. Ugh. But, worth it I hope--I really don't want to be sick for a week.

Big football weekend
Ah yes, the Iron Bowl. Where one of two pathetic seasons will come to a climax when Alabama and Aub*rn duke it out. (Roll Tide, Roll!)
And, of course, who could forget the #8 ranked Carson-Newman Eagles!? Yeah, I'm a proud alumnus. They'll be playing Valdosta St. (#5) this weekend. I hope to see C-NC make it to the DII finals this year... GO EAGLES!
Now, I need to work...

Welcome to the bubble
One of the "Christian" radio stations in ATL is really getting under my skin for a couple of reasons...
1) Previously they used the saying: "The best Christian music in Atlanta!" Um... okay... that's not prideful or anything. Now, they have the saying: "Safe and fun for the whole family!" Ah, yes. Nothing like sterilized music to insulate our vulnerable minds. Okay... I can see some merit in acknowledging that they take great pains not to air commercials about profolactics, gentlemen's clubs or sexy-single-hook-up-lines (which I have heard advertisements for on other radio stations), but, come on! There is a real world out there, and not everyone is singing about how looking to Jesus magically makes your divorce less painful.
2) $$$ give aways. I'm sorry. There's just something wrong when a radio station refers to itself as a ministry and then gives away hundreds of bucks a day to "caller number 47." Again this wouldn't be an issue if they were giving the $$$ to poverty-stricken families or to 12 step programs helping folks recover from addictions.
3) Okay, back to #1. Advertising. I heard an ad on there the other day for "the largest Christian dating service in America."Come on! This is absolutely ridiculous. Instead of filtering singles into ministry and mission in the area, this station is suggesting: "You're not complete, unless you have someone else in your life..." Ugh.
4) Perhaps my biggest "beef" is personal. I called this station a while back and said: "Thanks for playing some good music. Can I suggest some 'Christian' bands to play? Their music may be a little harder, or may question some more things, but I really dig it." I got transfered to an answering machine.
Okay. That's life in the bubble. Now, on to NCAA football... (Rooooooll Tide, Roll!)

antithesis
My life thus far this week has been anything but what I previously posted... funny, isn't it, how God teaches us in circumstances that are diametrically opposed to our comfort...

soul.break
Had a great time of rest and renewal over the weekend (thanks for askin', Hadge). I read Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen, and was captivated by his refering to the Christian life with a metaphor of bread: Taken, Blessed, Broken, Given. A thought on prayer and solitude hidden within the book:
It is not easy to enter into the silence and reach beyond the many boisterous and demanding voices of our world and to discover there the small intimate voice saying: "You are my Beloved Child, on you my favor rests." Still, if we dare to embrace our solitude and befriend our silence, we will come to know that voice.... a voice that can be heard by the ear of faith, the ear of the inner heart."
Spent some time meditating on Psalm 63:1 as well...
O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
So, thanks to those who thought about me and prayed for me as I was gone... may you, too, find time to steal away and be alone in the presence of God...

theoblog
A while back I bumped into a guy named Hadge and his blog, ogblog. Well, Hadge has now expanded his horizons and is beginning a new blog, theoBlog. We've had a few good conversations about theology (esp. open theism), ministry and pubs... I'm looking forward to this burgeoning site... and you should, too...

Emerging missions...
Recently a friend of mine refered me to check out the mission/vision of Great Commission Ministries (GCM). I'll need to look at it closer when I have the time, but a quick glance is pretty impressive--engaging emerging culture, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find that GCM is also the home of Ignite Conference, which I first heard about in RELEVANT magazine.
I'll be adding GCM to my links...

Cold November Rain...
Sat in the Bou this morning... sipping my cup-o-joe... meeting with a high schooler I'm discipling... journaling... reading the Book... just a good morning... then it came... that "cold" November rain... only... it wasn't cold... I wish it was cold... I miss the cold... Guns-N-Roses must've lived up north... anyway... the foggy, overcast morning has me thinking again... these are my thinking days... I feel this will be a good... overcast... thinking day... I think...

Today
Today I walked outside, and it felt like July. What's up with the heatwave? When I lived up north, it was cold this time of year. I love snow, but I don't see much of it here in Georgia. Looks like my heavy coat will have to stay in my closet this year.
In other news... I got the trivia question @ the Bou today. Dave said they will have La Minita tomorrow. (That's my favorite brew at the Bou.)
